When users can program their empty, autonomous cars to fetch pizza, laundry, mail, groceries and more, the need for dedicated delivery people will eventually decline.
When an empty car can just go to a restaurant and an employee can gently place the food in the car, there will be less of a need for delivery people driving from door to door.
Carandus.com allows drivers to send each other messages simply by the registration/license plate. Restaurant employees can send a message to the owner of an autonomous vehicle letting them know their food delivery is on its way.
